Steven Gerard’s time at Rangers is filled with revisionism that is simply not bought by Celtic fans.
When Gerrard left Rangers in 2021 the online abuse he received from the Ibrox support was laughed at by Celtic fans.
The year that COVID shut down Scottish football, Gerrard was on the brink of the sack after a humiliating run of results included a home defeat to Hamilton Accies.
So talk of his return has been lauded by both Celtic and Rangers fans for very different reasons.
But how does Gerrard feel about it? The Daily Record have an understanding’ according to Daniel Caw.
Steven Gerrard not impressed with ‘the state of the Rangers squad’ to take on Celtic
Rangers fans are clamouring to get Gerrard back to Rangers but it seems the Aston Villa and Saudi failure is not so interested.
Caw said on Hotline Live, “We actually have a story on Record Sport Online now. It went up just before we come on air. It’s from our transfer guru, Scott Burns.
“He says it’s his understanding that Gerard would have serious reservations about coming back over the state of the Rangers squad.”
That’s a shame. Celtic fans would love to have seen Gerrard return to Rangers and prove that the season he won the was genuinely a fluke.
The Closed Doors Cup was his greatest achievement at that club but since then, Celtic have blew Rangers away.
And they have done it to the point they now want a guy who spent tens of millions of pounds to win less trophies than St Johnstone to come back to Rangers to take on Celtic.
