Tom English is regularly regarded as anti-Celtic with some of his views on the club.
We told last week how Celtic hero John Collins wasn’t having any of the BBC pundit’s nonsense as the former Hopps midfielder called out English’s Rangers hypocrisy.
But now, it’s the turn of James McFadden to put English straight after Celtic’s defeat to SC Braga in the Europa League.
And after hearing what English had to say about Celtic’s Kasper Schmeichel’s role in the SC Braga goal, McFadden just had to put the BBC pundit straight.
Celtic Fans Have Their Say: Should Kasper Schmeichel be benched by Celtic? Take the poll: YES or NO
James McFadden’s superb put-down as Tom English makes foolish claim about Braga’s Celtic Park goal
Braga took the lead against Celtic after a 33-yard pile driver from their captain.
And English trying to defend Schmeichel’s role in the goal provoked a superb response from McFadden.
McFadden said on BBC Scotland, “It’s a high strike, and it does dip in the end.”
English: “Maybe a little bit, it’s not like it’s massive.”
McFadden: “You need to wipe they glasses Tom. He hits it high to start with.”
English: “There’s not a massive dip on that and he sees it all the way.”
McFadden: “Schmeichel gets a touch. It doesn’t matter. He should still save it. It’s a routine one for him. I think he just shuffles to the side and he either tips it over to be safe, or catches it.”
Celtic fans are not daft. They can see from a mile off that Schmeichel was way off it when he was caught out at the Braga goal.
They, like McFadden, won’t buy English’s defence of such a rookie mistake and Celtic fans will be delighted that the former Motherwell man called him out on it.
