Celtic’s win over Aberdeen was a fairly routine one.
Two goals from Benjamin Nygren and Reo Hatate was enough for Celtic to beat Aberdeen and remain on top of the Scottish Premiership Table.
The game passed with virtually no real controversy as Celtic controlled the game fairly easily at Pittodrie.
But the win could have been more comfortable for Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers’ side if a blatant penalty was awarded for an Aberdeen handball.
VAR and match officials miss blatant Aberdeen handball in Celtic’s win
Popular Celtic X account Lint, has shared footage of an Aberdeen player clearly handling the ball to give his side an advantage during a Celtic attack.
Lint said in X, “There were no replays of this handball by the Aberdeen player in their own penalty area.
“It also seemed to escape the attention of VAR.”
Why VAR never picked up on it was bad enough but the fact Sky Sports never even replayed it, never mind discussed it, is bad enough.
Thankfully, the decision never cost Celtic in the end but the Parkhead fans know that not applying the VAR rules properly does cost the team as proved previously during Brendan Rodgers’ tenure.
