Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers has just signed a player who ‘will never play for Celtic’

Brendan Rodgers is certainly starting to ramp up Celtic’s transfer business this summer.

The Celtic manager will be keen to add to the names already added to his Hoops’ first-team squad for the season ahead.

After Celtic signed Kieran Tierney, Rodgers also added Banjamin Nygren, Ross Doohan and Callum Osmand as the Parkhead gaffer strengthens his side this summer.

However, one signing Rodgers has made has been tipped to NEVER wear the green and white Hoops after the Celtic boss signed him less than a few days ago.

Hayato Inamura ‘will never make a first-team’ appearance for Celtic

Speaking about Celtic’s current transfer activity, The Celtic Blog’s James Forrest has lambasted the signing of Hayato Inamura.

Forrest told the Trinity Tims, “Last week we were on here and we talked about the Inamura signing, and how it made no sense whatsoever, and how it was clearly a project signing. And then Rodgers only went and confirmed that on Friday.

“But, you know, he clearly didn’t sign him. He clearly doesn’t fit into Rodgers’ plan anywhere. So who did sign him, and for what purpose?

“He’s 23, he’s too old to be considered a project player who we can send out on loan for a few years, and hope comes back to the finished article. That won’t happen. He will never play for Celtic.”

Celtic fans warned not to sleepwalk into a transfer policy ‘disaster’

Clearly unhappy at the Inamura signing, Forrest goes on to explain that if Celtic fans don’t wake up to the club’s transfer policy, a trophyless season could one day await them.

Forrest continued, “He will never make a first-team appearance. So what the hell are we doing? And the more you say this, the more people come back with the same arguments.

“‘We’re well-run, we’ve got money in the bank’. Because we’ve been hearing that for over a decade. It’s very hard to get people to think any other way.

“Very hard. And we are, to a certain extent, p-ssing in the wind. And I fear it is going to take a disaster to wake some people up.

“A disaster. A season where we win nothing.”

Celtic’s transfer dealings this summer certainly look as if they are harking back to the old project signing days.

With the club on the other side of the city seemingly getting their act together (albeit with powder puff signings) Celtic will have to be careful that they don’t become complacent by signing players in the mold of Inamura who could follow in the footsteps of Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke.

  1. We already had a trophieles season in the Covid years, but still we refuse to buy a couple of quality players every window.
