Match Day Celtic Park

Celtic Park stadium tour guide explains images that have emerged from what’s going on behind the scenes at Parkhead

Celtic are looking to make improvements both on and of the pitch for the season ahead.

Brendan Rodgers will undoubtedly strengthen Celtic and the board will also look to continue their great financial work to ensure the Celtic manager has the funds he needs for the transfer market.

However, there is a huge improvement that is literally happening on the pitch at Celtic Park that will also give Rodgers the best chance of winning the league title and, hopefully, another domestic treble.

Celtic start pitch upgrade ahead of new season

Now the the season is officially over, Celtic have ripped up the hallowed Parkhead turf.

As well as investing in the Celtic first-team, the Parhead board are investing heavily in a new pitch to ensure Rodgers will have the best playing surface heading into the new season.

The last time this was done was, ironically, during Rodgers’ first tenure as the Celtic boss as the club installed a new hybrid pitch.

So what exactly goes on in this process? Celtic’s stadium tour guide explains further.

The process behind Celtic’s pitch upgrade explained by stadium tour guide

Tour guide, Ken Ross took to X to explain, “The top layer of the pitch is removed at the end of each season. Sand & soil is laid, then it’s seeded.

“Over 1m synthetic strands are placed 18cms into the ground – a machine puts them in. The grass grows over the summer and the new pitch is ready for the start of the new season.”

So it’s a summer-long process and the new turf should be ready for the crucial Champions League qualifier at the start of the season.

Fans will also be hoping that Rodgers has the Celtic first-team ready for that as well.
