Hampden Stadium where Celtic will play League Cup semi final

‘Suppose you’ll all be celebrating down the lodge tonight’ – Celtic fans roast ex-SFA men’s verdict on Scottish Cup officials

Most Celtic fans have accepted that the Scottish Cup defeat to Aberdeen was a fair result.

Brendan Rodgers’ side never turned up and after being ahead and looking comfortable, Celtic failed to kill off Aberdeen and paid the ultimate price.

The Scottish Cup was lost and with it, any chance of another domestic treble for Celtic. However, what cannot be denied is that whilst the refereeing performance had nothing to do with the result, the Hampden officials were very poor.

Don Robertson was the man in the middle and it appeared that he was more keen on stopping the play for ridiculous fouls than allowing the cup final to flow. And it frustrated the hell out of Celtic fans.

So when an X account that is run by former SFA referees Steve Conroy and Des Roache came away with this:

It enraged the Celtic support and sparked a huge debate.

Des Roache and Steve Conroy roasted for verdict on Scottish Cup final officials

First up was popular X account @Maedasteel who kicked off the preceedings, “Two bookings for Carter-Vickers and Yang were disgraceful. Broke play up as much as he could.

“Seems to be the go-to for refs when we play.”

@BillyBhoy3 was dumbfounded at this take and replied, “Seriously??? That was as poor a refereeing performance in a Cup Final I’ve ever seen.

“Celtic players were simply not allowed to challenge for the ball. He blew for a foul every time and allowed Aberdeen to foul constantly. No complaints whatsoever about the result btw.”

And @colinstewa22828 superbly replied, “Suppose you’ll all be celebrating down the lodge tonight.”

Finally, this Celtic fan @Itswayoverther2 summed up Robertson’s performance perfectly with this reply, “He was dreadful for both teams.”
