Celtic have taken years to make the club financially stable and now, a proper player in the Champions League.
Brendan Rodgers has done a remarkable job this season in Europe’s top competition as the Celtic manager competed and faced up to some of the best clubs in Europe.
Rodgers has also done a great job selling and procuring talent so that Celtic can sell their top assets and not be weaker on the park this season.
So when a Rangers fan made a claim about his club being able to compete in the Champions League and instantly create a player trading model, it was rightly ripped apart by many, many Celtic supporters.
Rangers will beat Celtic to the Champions League and earn ‘millions’ in player sales
A Rangers fan took to X to post this incredible claim as he got overexcited about the takeover bid:
Rangers could literally be in the champions league next season and sell players for tens of millions next summer (2026)

Football can change in an instant. This “it’ll take years and £100’s of millions” is nonsense.
The right DOF, right manager and good signings changes a lot https://t.co/DFyGVSJ1AA
I mean, where do I even start with this? Let’s go to the obvious place. How do Rangers expect to get into the Champions League with this current squad? And finally, who at Ibrox is worth this ‘tens of millions’ that this guy expects to rake in over the next 18 months or so?
The delusion is superb and it was not lost on these Celtic fans.
Celtic fans respond to Rangers Champions League claim
One Celtic fan replied, “Deluded p-sh! It’s taken Celtic 30 years to get to this point. With prudent management. And you think you can do it in a couple of years.”
Playing in the champions league and selling players for profit 2 things rangers are famous for eh 🤣🤣🤣

Another Celtic fan put, “Absolute p–h, very very rarely does football change in an instant, and certainly not when your club is as defective as Rangers. They are light years behind Celtic and anyone that is thick enough to think that’s going to change overnight is as thick as f–k.”
Celtic have been run in the proper manner for 29 years. Sticking to the same stringent formula has cost Celtic titles. We could have been in a better position by now, if management was more bold. However we are now at a level we can sign 6 m players and not bat an eyelid.

Another Celtic fan took a pragmatic approach to his answer and said, “Not sure you’re right here. UEFA rules mean you can’t dump a huge amount of money into a playing squad that you haven’t generated through ticket sales or player trading etc.
“In a few years, with a bigger stadium and better recruitment, you might get to those figures, but it won’t be soon.”
There is a saying that the Celtic supporters use, and it has never been more apt than it is now, ‘It’s the hope that kills them.’
