Former FIFA referee makes claim about Kilmarnock’s Scottish Cup goal vs Celtic that will shut Derek McInnes up

Derek McInnes is never done moaning about Celtic, especially when his Kilmarnock side is beaten fairly and squarely.

The Kilmarnock boss was crying about Celtic’s winning goal when he claimed that a foul on Marley Watkins by Auston Trusty should have been awarded instead of the other way around.

Match referee, Nick Walsh and his assistant awarded Celtic a free kick after Trusty was barged in the back and less than 30 seconds later, Daizen Maeda had the ball in the back of the net.

Kilmarnock ‘guilty’ of handball vs Celtic in the Scottish Cup

Hackett told Football Insider, “I genuinely think that Celtic have a good case because the player in the middle has made his body shape, his silhouette larger, the ball has struck his arm, it’s deflected off.

“I wonder if VAR actually looked at the right incident. I wonder if they were looking at the guy who scored the goal rather than actually the handball in the build-up.

“But that player’s guilty of handball. I think he’s clearly made his body shape, by stretching his arm forward, he knows what he’s doing and it’s come off his arm and to his colleague.

“So for me, I think the goal should have been ruled out I think Celtic have got a good case, it was handball and I’m surprised that VAR didn’t clarify that point.”

Weirdly, McInnes never mentioned this in any of his press conference and neither was he asked about it.

It’s like the Scottish media are trying to paint some sort of narrative and using McInnes to do just that.

If only the Kilmarnock championed all decisions that affected all teams and not just his own team because we all know that makes him, right?
