Barry Ferguson talking Celtic

Celtic fans will love Barry Ferguson’s tears as he admits he ‘heard whispers’ about Rangers’ latest financial disaster

Rangers as a club has provided some superb entertainment for the Celtic fans in 2024.

The biggest source of entertainment for Celtic fans was the Ibrox stadium upgrade in which Rangers spent a small fortune renting Hampden for a few months.

Then there was Borna Barisic and Jack Butland fighting with Rangers fans outside Ibrox and James Tavernier videoed getting abuse from some angry Bears as well.

But now, there is another superb laugh heading the Celtic fans’ way as Barry Ferguson reacts to news this site brought to you last week.

Rangers’ AGM broke Barry Ferguson over financial news Celtic fans already knew about

The news at Rangers’ AGM that the club made just £800,000 on the sale of Todd Cantwell and five other players had Celtic fans in tears.

Reacting to the news Ferguson told The Go Radio Football Show, “Well, I had heard the whispers that that was the kind of price that they got for the five players, but I was surprised when they obviously admitted at the AGM.

“That’s what they brought in. And I look at the five players and I look at Cantwell, who is well known down in the championship.

“I thought you would have got at least a half decent price. I know he never played every week, but I would probably look at Cantwell and think three-quarters of a million quid, half a million quid, something like that. And the same way Goldson, Sam Lammers, was a three-and-a-half million pound signing a year ago.”

“Scott Wright, you’d think you’d get a couple of hundred grand in from him. So when I seen that price of £800k it took me aback.”

Deluded Barry Ferguson thinks Rangers financial mishap won’t ‘ever happen again’

“Bad business, but going forward,” Ferguson hopes, “I don’t think that would ever happen again, Rob. There’s no doubt that Cantwell, Golson and Lammers were probably in the highest bracket in terms of wages.

“That’s something that Rangers are certainly trying to reduce. I think they’ve reduced the wage bill by 6 million pound since these players have left, but getting only £800k in, yeah, I was surprised.”

Have a watch of the video, Ferguson’s face is priceless. As for Celtic fans, we are loving the show so please keep it up!
