‘I’m afraid’ – Ex-CEO is scared Rangers are going to fall further behind Celtic

Celtic have enjoyed near total domination over Rangers for the past two decades now as the Parkhead club grows stronger by the season.

Celtic’s finances are so strong that they can blow every other club out of the water including Rangers who are racking up debt on a scary scale.

With their team struggling on the park and the Rangers fans wanting Philippe Clement sacked, the Ibrox club is a basketcase on the way to another implosion.

And that implosion has left former Aberdeen and Everton CEO, Keith Wyness delightfully worried about the Ibrox club trying to catch Celtic.

Keith Wyness ‘concerned for Rangers’ as league position vs Celtic means their ‘season is gone’

Wyness told The Inside Track, “I’m afraid that’s exactly what I’ve been saying. Every week that goes by now, I’m getting more concerned for Rangers and I really mean it. Every week, I don’t see big news coming out of the boardroom about major changes at that level.

“It’s becoming more concerning. I see they have promoted somebody now to be basically the director of football position. They promoted from within and I think there’s another recruitment person coming in as well.

“But this is just tinkering around the edges. There are some big fixes that need to be made at Rangers. I say every week that goes by when we get to Christmas and there’s still 9, 12 points behind Celtic, that’s when you know your season’s gone.

“And the Rangers fans are not happy, but I think they all recognise this is now becoming a three or a four-year project.

“And this has got to be coming in with fresh eyes because the existing board do not obviously have the talent or the resources to do this properly. So again, I’m calling for change of that level and it’s got to be a new investor.”

This is just the tip of the iceberg for Rangers. Celtic still have plenty of cash in the bank if there is even so much as a whiff of them trying to spend money in January, Brendan Rodgers will make even more quality additions to improve the squad.

With Champions League qualification looking like a strong possibility, Celtic’s finances are just going to get stronger and stronger this season as Rangers scrabble about looking for spare change behind their couch.
