‘Shameful’ – Celtic fans roast Tom English’s ‘cringe-making’ criticism of minute’s silence protest

It seems like Celtic fans are continually getting it in the neck for their stance on the minute’s silence as the criticism flows in.

But when you look to see who the criticism is coming from, at least those fans know that they are on the right side of history.

The Celtic fans’ message at Kilmarnock explained clearly why many of the Parkhead supporters have an issue with this forced act year in and year out.

The Kilmarnock manager decided to take to have his say despite Derek McInnes having a questionable history of singing anti-Celtic and sectarian songs of hate when he was a Rangers player.

Martin Keown will have a renewed standing with the Celtic support after his comments explained their stance perfectly.

And then we had the stupid former Coronation Street man, Charlie Lawson, telling the world he ‘hates’ Celtic fans. What’s new there then from that idiotic washed-up TV star?

But it was these words from Tom English about the minute’s silence that really annoyed the Celtic supporters, “It’s cringe-making, it’s mortifying but it’s hard to stop it because I don’t see a will to stop it.

“This has been going on for many, many, many years. And the SPFL stand by and allow all sorts of things to happen in football stadiums in this country.

“And I would just like to send a message like to these, I don’t think these people are listening, right? They’re kind of ignorant.

“Like, I’m going to list a few people here, right? And Celtic, these Celtic people singing, ‘If you know your History’, clearly they don’t.

“Patrick Slavin, Leigh Roose, Donny McLeod, Archie McMillan, Bob Craig, John McLaughlin, Peter Johnston.

“All Celtic players who died in World War I. And yet these guys can’t even stay silent for one minute. I think it’s disgraceful.

“I echo Brendan Rodger’s sentiments and Derek McInnes’ sentiments in particular. And I would praise Derek McInnes for having the courage to raise it.

“It was a pretty grim moment.”
