What Police Scotland did with a sectarian banner at Hearts will not surprise Celtic fans

According to the Scottish media, sectarianism is a West of Scotland problem or, more specifically, a Celtic and Rangers one.

Celtic fans, of course, know that this is a pile of nonsense as the away support and players regularly suffer abuse at grounds like Tynecastle, Dingwall and even those green Union Jack flag-waving morons at Easter Road.

Ross County fans hurled sectarian abuse at Celtic players back in 2021 as Ange Postecoglou led Celtic to that famous 2-1 win at Dingwall on his way to his first title as the new Hoops boss.

And we don’t even need to recount stories of what type of singing the Hearts fans enjoy whenever Celtic come calling at Tynecastle.

Well it seems they are at it again except it wasn’t with Celtic it was at the Edinburgh Derby at Easter Road.

Police Scotland ‘stood and watched’ sectarian bile at Easter Road

Brilliant social media accout The Fast Lovin’ Sin-Soaked Heathen shared a video of a young Hearts fan revelling in the away crowd holding up a shameful 1690 King Billy flag.

The account then added more context, “…and just to add, this was in full view of Police Scotland officers who just stood there and watched whilst Hibs fans were subjected to a barrage of abuse – both physical and verbal.

“I fully expect all decent Hearts fans to call this reprehensible behaviour out.”

It’s a sad indictement of the not just the Police but also the Scottish media who have been awfully quiet over this affair.

Whenever Celtic fans are accused of such crimes the media writers cannot wait to put the boot into our club.

Strangely, it seems that they are just as silent as they are about sectarianism in Edinburgh as they are silent with with sectarianism at Ibrox that is belted out from the stands week in week out.

Are we surprised? Absolutely not.
