Sometimes pundits in the English game just love opening their mouths and letting their teeth rattle whenever it comes to talking about Celtic.
Many of them are so fixated with the English Premier League that when the time comes to talk about Scottish football they end up just embarrassing themselves.
And that is exactly what Alan Shearer has just done. The former Newcastle man felt the need to talk about the Scottish Premiership this week and how he feels the title race is going to go.
He might as well have not bothered because he’s now lost credibility with every person in Scotland after his latest comments.

Yeah, you read that correctly. No explanation is needed, just read what he said.
Shearer told Betfair, “Everyone’s talking about them and that can only be a good thing. I hope it continues because it’d be great if someone upset the apple cart up in Scotland.
“It would be great for the Scottish Premiership if they could win the title. They’ve had an amazing start. When you look at what happened to Celtic in Dortmund earlier this week, the result, the travel and everything else then that can only help Aberdeen, there’s no doubt about that.
“It’s great that Celtic are in the Champions League but in terms of what Aberdeen are trying to achieve, the heavy defeat as well as the extra games in Europe can only help them achieve what seems like the impossible and win the top-flight title.”
I suppose if a bookmaker is going to pay you a sub you will say anything but Shearer should have at least made his comments credible.

Unsurprisingly, Shearer’s comments were taken apart by the Celtic supporters as soon as they heard them.
Because to use the defeat to Dortmund as a foundation for Aberdeen winning the title, it’s little wonder Celtic fans took Shearer apart.

Shearer has just embarrassed himself no and really must be thinking if the commission he receives from the bookmaker is really worth his punditry reputation.
What do you mean lost credibility? I didn’t know he had any. Remember this is the guy who kicked Lenny in the head and then told the FA if he was punished he wouldn’t play for the national team. He is ( I don’t want to swear ) You know what I mean.
