Celtic have enjoyed a relentless start to the new season after another win at the weekend over Hearts.
Sitting five points ahead of Rangers and the Ibrox club absolutely rudderless, Brendan Rodgers has kept Celtic’s boot firmly on the neck of Scottish football with no reason to release it.
And he’s done that with some excellent recruitment and improving players who are already at the club.
The Celtic manager improved Matt O’Riley to the tune of £30m and now, it seems that there is another player who is ‘coming on leaps and bounds’ under the Irishman.
That’s according to Keith Jackson.
Liam Scales hs been ‘impressive’ for Celtic
Scales continues to keep his place in the Celtic team after is superb season last year. And according to Jackson, he’s just getting better and better.
Jackson said (Hotline Live), “Scales has been terrific this season. I think he’s actually gone up another level, Scales.
“It’s funny because you do see sporadic modes of growth in players under Brendan Rodgers, where they’re good, they’re ticking along fine, and then all of a sudden, wow, he’s gone up a different level.
“And I think I’m seeing that in Scales this season. He had always been impressive enough. All right, he came into the team in difficult circumstances, lack of options, a complete lack of options, is why he played.
“And he did really, really well to nail down that position, to stay in the team, to be dependable. This season I think I see a difference in him. I see a big improvement in him again.
“I think he’s coming on leaps and bounds.”
This is an usual step for Jackson who usually spends his time slating Celtic so the fact he’s actually praising a Celtic player is *checks notes* commendable.
