Ah well, never mind. Another season and another year of Champions League money going directly into the Celtic coffers after Dynamo Kyiv knocked Rangers out of the competition.
In a must-win game, the Rangers fans embarrassed their club as they failed to turn up at Hampden and, in turn, their team did the same by failing to turn up against the Ukrainians.
Now the BBC commentators can say whatever they want about the red card for Jefte (and I’ll get to that later) but the level of performance from that team in a must-win game which could have helped them net millions of pounds was just shameful and will leave the Celtic fans fearing nothing from Philippe Clement’s men for the upcoming Glasgow Derby.
But still, the pain from the BBC punditry team of Billy Dodds, Cammy Bell and Derek Ferguson about the red card was just superb.
BBC pundit’s rage about ‘ridiculous’ red card
The trio couldn’t hold back their pain as they let loose with a volley of tears over Jefte’s red card.
Dodds said (BBC), “First impressions it looks a disgrace.
“Maybe there’s a bump in the challenge for the ball but I think that’s a shocker.
“It’s ridiculous.”
Bell chipped in, “It’s a huge moment in the game and a huge decision from the referee.
“He’s pleading his innocence but it won’t help his case.
“You can see the devastation in his face. It’s a very poor decision and it could be so costly for Rangers.”
And Ferguson moaned, “That is just a good honest challenge in the air, it’s not even a foul.
“I don’t even think the first one was a yellow.”
Look, if you’re on a yellow card more care should be taken to ensure that a decision is not being given to the referee to make.
Jefte led with his elbow and whilst you could argue the second yellow was soft, he was careless and gave the ref a decision to make.
The pain is wonderful and it’s brilliant to see another failure by Rangers offer Celtic another massive advantage in the financial stakes this season.
