Watch one of the most important goals vs Rangers in Celtic’s history and Jim White’s reaction to it

Glasgow Derby fixtures always throw up some real iconic Celtic moments over the years, especially in terms of goals vs Rangers.

Shunsuke Nakamura’s screamer at Parkhead was incredible as was Henrik Larsson’s in the 6-2 demolition of Rangers in Martin O’Neill’s first-ever derby.

Moussa Dembele’s hattrick in Brendan Rodgers’ first taste of a Glasgow Derby was iconic as was Reo Hatate’s the night Ange Postecoglou took Celtic top of the league in February 2022.

All goals with varying degrees of importance, but none of these where as important as this one from 1997.

Jim White sickened with Alan Stubbs’ Celtic equaliser

Yes, it was 1997 and Rangers were on the way to ten-in-row. Winning 1-0 with just minutes to go, this happened:

The look on White’s face was just brilliant as he couldn’t hide just how sick he was when that goal hit the back of the net.

Of course, that draw kept Rangers’ bid for ten-in-row under Celtic’s control and had we lost that match, the Ibrox club would probably have gone on to win it.

But as it was, Wim Jansen’s team stood tall and went on to win the league and League Cup double which was the catalyst to ending Rangers’ domination of Scottish football and the beginning of Celtic’s most successful period of dominance in recent times.
