‘Seriously?’, ‘Pin it up’ – Celtic fans could not believe what they have just heard from James Tavernier

Rangers captain, James Tavernier

Ah it’s always great fun for the Celtic fans in the week after a Rangers defeat in the league.

In fact, scratch that. It’s fun when Rangers get beat at any time and in any competition. I mean, we all remember the fallout after they got humped out of the Europa League by Benfica.

Bears fighting, David Tanner tears, it’s superb when they get humped and the after the Ross County defeat on Sunday, the scattergun is well and truly out.

James Taverniers bizarre Ross County comments

But it was what Rangers captain, James Tavernier, said after the Ross County defeat that really confused the Celtic fans today.

Asked about his thoughts on the Dingwall disaster, Tavernier made a claim about his team that even his own supporters won’t believe.

Tavernier said (Daily Record), “It is definitely out of character. I can’t speak too much, I have to look back on the goals and how we defended as a team.

“But obviously to concede a goal in the second minute after half time is not what you want to do. You want to start the second half positively and we obviously didn’t do that. It was really tough but first and foremost we have to earn the right to win games and we didn’t do that.”

Celtic fans rinse Tavernier

Out of character? Remind me again how many times Rangers have dropped points this season. Also, can someone else remind me of the last time they beat Celtic in a meaningful game? I’m sure it’s going on three seasons now.

No one is buying Tavernier’s nonsense. Especially the Celtic fans who all sent him a message before they go to Dens Park tomorrow in a must-win game.
