“A lot of the Celtic fans don’t really fancy him” – Barry Ferguson makes bizarre claim on Celtic’s Tynecastle hero

Right, I know it’s Barry Ferguson but bear with me here.

After Celtic’s cup exploits at Tynecastle on Saturday, the whole team has, quite rightly, earned incredible praise and plaudits for the result, but mainly for the performance.

From back to front, the whole team was brilliant, with the exception of maybe one player in Sead Haksabanovic.

But that was through no fault of his own. The majority of the play was down the right-hand side with Jota so he can be excused for that.

But it was another player that Barry Ferguson was focusing on when speaking about the Celtic team. A player who has brought some real solidity at the back and has also become a firm fan favourite.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Ferguson said, “I said when Celtic was signing him [Joe Hart] I said they were getting a top-class goalkeeper.

He’s made a few mistakes with the ball at his feet. Is it Joe’s biggest strength? No, it’s no.

I think if you ask Joe he would be open and honest about that.

Listen, look at some of the saves he’s pulled off.

And a lot of the Celtic fans don’t really fancy him which kinda baffles me a wee bit.

For me again, he’s not just a top-class goalkeeper, he’s a presence, he’s a character.”

The Celtic fans don’t fancy him? Since when? The Celtic fans love him. What we are not confident about is when he has the ball at his feet as Barry has alluded to there but what is he meant to do?

Go against Ange Postecoglou’s wishes and hoof the ball long?

Our game is built on playing from the back. And that means that Hart must play with the ball at his feet. Yes, he can be dodgy, but that doesn’t mean that the fans don’t rate him because of that.

Ferguson needs to get out there and speak to the fans rather than spouting garbage on the radio. But then, if I was in as much pain as he was watching us, I would probably do the same.
