Remember when Giakoumakis held his first press conference for Atlanta United and said that the Scottish league wasn’t that competitive?
To remind you all, here is what he said:
Many people thought that he was down on our game. I thought he was just saying what we’ve all been saying for years. There are only two teams that co pete for this league. The rest just sit and defend.
100% correct.
But, it seems, if a former Celtic player says it is deemed disrespectful.
Just like Craig Moore believes. But clearly Craig wasn’t paying attention to what Giakoumakis was saying (just like he wasn’t when he signed his contract with Deadco) because why else would he spout this garbage?
Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Moore said, “I think that is disrespectful.
“Because I think there is great talent here in Scotland.
“I think that I would love to see clubs and coaches be a little bit braver with with giving young players opportunity.
“But there’s real talent here and it gets underplayed quite a lot.
“And yet the Scottish boys seem to, whether it be going down to the leagues down south or whether it’s a boys or go to Italy, they seem to transition and adapt extremely well so there’s no doubt there is talent here.
“Giakoumakis, in terms of potting the league I thought was probably poor taste.”
Giakoumakis never once mentioned the players, young Scottish talent or the lack of opportunity for them. Not once.
So what the hell is he talking about?
Moore spoke with a complete lack of self awareness when it is he who disrespected the Rangers fans for his part in the clubs death.
And for that, we will we always be grateful.
