On their way to Paradise

Video: Atlanta United rinse Urawa Reds with outstanding Giakoumakis announcement

It was always inevitable that Giorgos Giakoumakis was leaving the club. Although the transfer window in Scotland is closed, the US window doesn’t close until later in the year leaving the Greek striker able to assess his opportunities and pick the right destination for him and his young family.

It was a two way battle between MLS side Atlanta United and J League side Urawa Reds and the Americans won the day after bidding a record $4.7m (£4,1m).

And boy did those pesky American’s announce the signing in style.

Check this out:

A work of art and one that the J League side will not find funny one bit.

However, GG moves on and hopefully he will find what he is looking for both in his football and in his wage packet in the MLS.

Giakoumakis has a couple of weeks to get to know his teammates and his new sides style of play as Atlanta’s next fixture is not until the 26th of February where he will most likely make his home debut against the San Jose Earthquakes.
