“That’s not how it works mate” – Ange shoots down BBC man’s daft Abada question

Celtic Park

They just never learn do they? After all this time, in all of Ange’s 18 months at Celtic, the BBC post match reporters still insist on asking the gaffer the daftest if questions.

Young Liel Abada was drafted into the starting line-up tonight to replace Daizen Maeda in an attempt by the Celtic boss to counteract the ‘low block’ that Livingston deploy against us.

The Israeli international was back to his best tonight. He was my man of the match. No question.

He was dangerous down that right flank and showed us all the different dimension he brings to the side should the pace of Maeda be nullified.

So when thenpost match BBC interviewer asks Ange if that performance tonight gave Abada the right to knock on his door to ask for more minutes, the Celtic boss replied in his usual calm, but ‘WTF type of question us that?’ manner, “That’s not how it works mate.

You don’t put in requests for game time. It’s all learnt.

He’s done very well and he continues to do the role.

The most important thing for Liel is that he’s constantly improving and wants to improve and every day’s looking to be the better sort of player.

“And I thought he was great today.

He took the game to them but even him, a couple of times I thought in the first half he should have been in areas where we know he’s really dangerous and can get goals and, again, it’s just a reaffirmation for him about his role in the team and why it’s important.”

They will learn, eventually, one day to stop asking these headline seeking questions.

But then, it’s the Scottish media. So maybe not.
