“If he wants to go, then he goes” – Tony Haggerty’s brilliant summation of latest transfer story

Main stand at Celtic Park

To be fair right, we all know Juranovic was choking for a move from Celtic.

When the story that Athletico Madrid popped up he never really came out to put it to bed did he?

Speaking of being flattered etc……really translated into, “Madrid? Gies it!”

Josip Juranovic has been a solid player for Celtic over the past fifteen months. Domestically, he has ruled the right flank. He now charges Ryan Kent a monthly fee for staying in his back pocket.

But on the European stage? He has been lacking.

Ever since his Panenka penalty last season, Juranovic has struggled in Europe and was caught short in a few games in the Champions League where his positional sense caused a couple of goals.

But with the latest transfer story developing today that Celtic seem quite happy to entertain bids for the Croatian, there is no panic where Tony Haggerty is concerned.

Speaking on The Celtic Way Podcast, Haggerty said, “I think there’s also a very black-and-white scenario here isn’t there? If he has a cracking World Cup then to the highest bidder I guess.

If he does, himself, drum up that interest. If he doesn’t have a good World Cup, then, will that interest be there?

So I’m quite willing to let the situation ride out and see where the chips might fall at the end of it.

Ange at the AGM was preparing the supporters for the departure of some stars and I don’t think Juranovic is the type of player you would burst the bank in terms of a new contract if he’s itching for a move.

But if he’s not wanting to sign a deal and what’s to see what’s out there and if he wants to go, then he goes.”

And I 100% agree. We should not repeat the same mistakes as we did in the past with Edouard, Christie and N’tcham.

If he wants to go, let him go. With our best wishes of course.
