Ally McCoist: Bought and sold for English gold with anti Celtic comments

Lisbon Lions Stand, Celtic Park

You would think, at the very least, having ex professional Scottish players in the London centric media world of Talksport, they would have the balls to stand up for our game wouldn’t you?

People like Alan Brazil and Ally McCoist who were both seasoned professionals in the game and earned a decent living from it, you would hope they would stick their heads up and call out their fellow pundits for the utter tripe they speak when they talk about Scottish football right?

Absolutely not.

And this morning, Ally McCoist must have a blacked out mirror in his home because how he can look into it after agreeing with that shyster Jason Cundy after his anti-Celtic rant is beyond me.

Cundy did his usual p*sh after a Celtic defeat and called our club fourth tier and screamed some nonsense about ‘Where is Ange?’ after we exited Europe last night.

It was the usual shock jock tactics from a clueless pundit and radio station that couldn’t point to Parkhead on a map even if it was surrounded in green and white flashing lights.

The guy is a t*t of the highest order.

And instead of calling him out on his inane bullsh*t, McCoist said this on his show this morning, “He’s right, they’re miles behind top European football.

“Of course, he’s right. Scottish clubs in Europe have been a big disappointment. I don’t think there’s any doubt about that.

“Last season, Rangers were fantastic getting to a European final.

“This season, Rangers did well to make it to the Champions League group stages, with a good result over in Holland (against PSV).

“The fact of the matter is, and I include Hearts and Motherwell, the results shave been really, really poor.

“There’s a number of reasons for it. There’s absolutely no chance Scottish clubs can consistently compete on a regular basis against the finances of the top teams of European football. That’s the logistics of it.

“Rangers and Celtic can’t have it both ways because they have more money than the rest of the teams in Scotland.

“There has to be a balance there, but I’m really disappointed with the level of results from Scottish teams in Europe and I intend to agree with Jason.

“I think he’s slightly harsh in the way he put it but it’s difficult to disagree with him statistically.”

Cundy’s professional career was 4th tier. In the game for over 12 years and made less than 130 first team appearances for clubs like Chelsea and Tottenham.

But McCoist? He should have slaughtered Cundy for those comments.

He should have challenged him and asked him if he thought any English club could compete in the Champions League on a Scottish budget.

But he didn’t as he won’t go against his paymasters and upset the majority of their audience.

It’s time every Scottish football fan turned off that joker of a ‘national’ broadcaster.
