VAR was always going to cause controversy whenever it hit our shores and this weekend, it didn’t disapoint.
The new technology hit our game with a bang as decisions went for and against teams in the SPFL.
It just seems surprising for Celtic as many of those decisions went against for us some strange reason.
But is so strange after all?
I mean, are there people in the game with a vested interest to make sure that Celtic are not advantaged by the new technology?
Are our officials actively seeking out to make sure we get nothing from VAR?
I have to say no because any suggestion that the officials in the Scottish game are corrupt or ‘cheats’ could leave me open to all sorts of legal wranglings, but I’ll leave you with this observation from a Celtic fan:
Are we at the point were the new technology, after just one weekend, is now deemed useless because of those at the controls?
I’m not so sure.
But what this does highlight is that there needs to be more procedures in place to protect it’s integrity and when it is in use, there cannot be a conflict of interests from those that are charged with applying the laws of the game.
As a minimum.
But that won’t happen will it?
