We all love the Daily Record right? Well, not for the reasons we want but for the reasons they give.
Every transfer window this embarrassing news outlet comes away some pro Rangers transfer story that usually involves Alfredo Morelos or Ryan Kent.
But as one is injured and the other is just barking, Calvin Bassey is the next best thing as the succulent lamb being served up in this classic headline shows:
Stuns the world? Really? Has he invented a cure for cancer? Or maybe solved the world energy crisis? Don’t be daft.
In actual fact, Bassey won the world renowned COPA90 Breakthrough Player of the Season award. Not a trophy. An award.
Now, I have no issue with the fans and their club celebrating this at all. It’s this sensationalist p*sh that drives me round the bend.
All designed to stoke up some imaginary Baresi type player that simply doesn’t exist when in reality, Bassey has simply had a decent half season.
That’s it. And that half season earned him a Scottish Cup Winn…. sorry, “Champions” medal.
