Former Celts brutal Sevco takedown as he highlights financial worries

All this talk of the Sydney Cup and *Rangers protests is really getting on my nerves.

The tournament is going ahead and no amount of bitching and wailing from Govan is going to change that.

As it turns out, the events are almost sold out, so if they did pull out, the financial implications for the club could be huge.

And that is exactly the reason why they are participating.

They are skint. They need the money and this was hammered home by Frank McAvennie who strangely broke ranks and criticised the Ibrox club for once.

Speaking to Football Insider, McAvennie said, “They aren’t going to pull out.

“The whole reason they are doing this is to make money, they aren’t going to lose money and not do it.

“I’m sorry, but I’m not having it, these Rangers fans who aren’t happy about this.

“Scottish football needs the money. it’s that simple.

“They need this money. Then you think about the fans. Celtic and Rangers are two of the biggest clubs all over the world.

“There are a load of Celtic and Rangers fans over in Australia. They will get up at god knows what hour every weekend to watch their team.

“So now they have this chance to see them in the flesh and people aren’t happy about that.

“I don’t get it, I really don’t. It will be streamed back here as well so anyone who wants to watch it will be able to.

“I don’t know what all the fuss is about if I’m completely honest.”

So those fans will just need to suck it up and deal with it.

Their board of directors knows they need the money. Hell, £100m in losses means beggars cannot be choosers and looking their current financial status, they should be thanking Celtic for allowing them to take part in the Ange Hoemcoming party.
