Celtic sign top players and *Rangers thinking they have re-signed a top player.
Conor Goldson kind of left Rangers at the end of the season only to re-sign the day after his contract expored.
The cynics in us would suggest that maybe Goldson wasn’t wanted by any of the top clubs in England but not Frank McAvennie.
The former Celtic striker took aim and fired a shot across the Ibrox bow and claimed that the only reason Goldson signed back on at Ibrox was because no one else wanted him.
Speaking to Football Insider, Frank said, “I told you, you are only worth what someone will pay you and no one came in for him.
“The reason he signed is because no one wanted to sign him. The papers can say what they want, the club can say what they want, until an offer comes in, you aren’t worth it.
“It’s a strange one. I knew he would sign. The only offers he will be getting are from Championship clubs. He would have gone to the Premier League if an offer came in.
“He lets the ball go across him like he did against Frankfurt and you can’t do that in the Premier League. Decent centre-halves don’t do that. He is a decent player for Rangers and he will do alright there.
“It keeps continuity so that will be good for them, it’s not a bad signing. I won’t criticise him for what he has done in Scotland but he is not Premier League material.”
I’m pretty sure they (Rangers fans) claimed that Goldson would walk into any club down south.
Looks like we will never know.
