Australian media give Postecoglou transfer policy insight

As Celtic continue to be linked with various players ten weeks prior to the January window opening, Australian media outlet, The Canberra Times, has given an insight into the kind of player the Celtic boss wants to bring to Celtic.

Postecoglou always spoke of bringing a ‘culture’ to Paradise and that takes a special kind of player. And it is not solely based on footballing ability.

Postecoglou opened up on one of the major factors that he believes makes a player a perfect fit for his team, “I was confident with someone like Kyogo.

I kind of knew him really well from Japanese football. I knew his background and I asked enough people about him as a personality, to know he would cope well.

Should Celtic sign Jota now or wait till end of the season? Take the poll HERE!

“That is part of the process, particularly when you are talking about bringing in people in January when they are going to have to hit the ground running.

“Those are the things we will be looking into, not just their playing ability but also their personality.

“And a big part of it will be the ones who want to come here.

“When players show intent, people like Jota and Kyogo, there was never any discussion to try to convince them to come to Celtic, this was their preferred destination and this was a big part of it.”

And it is already paying dividends for the Celtic gaffer. And not just with Jota and Kyogo. Carter-Vickers and Hart are two prime examples of how getting players who want to play football will benefit the team so the January window will be extremely interesting to see what kind of targets Postecoglou has in mind.
