“Any more of that talk and I’ll have you sectioned”, “Wayne Biggins of 2022” – Celtic fans react to striker suggestion

The Celtic front line is the strongest I have seen in a long time. And before anyone jumps in, I am talking about the front line as a whole.

Look at it, Kyogo, Giakoumakis, Jota, Abada, Maeda. Incredible firepower this season.

But as we know there are players that simply do not have a future at the club. None at all.

What about Albian Ajeti? Could he still have a role to play at the club? At 26 years old, the Swiss striker still has his best years ahead of him but could they be at Celtic?

This Celtic fan certainly seems to thinks so. Posting in the A Celtic State of Mind Facebook group, this argument was put up:

As you can see, the post was quite ‘popular’ amongst the members of the group and created a strong discussion:

Pablo Conan Doyle: “No! GG must be terrifying to play against and he’s an amazing finisher! Albian needs to get a game elsewhere. Hasn’t embraced the jumper!💚🙏

Mike Gallagher: “No chance… Any more of that talk and I’ll have you sectioned. Ajeti has had his chance ,he would do well at a Hibs or Hearts.”

David Patrick: “To many folk are taking a one dimensional view of this…..aye with improved service Ajeti prolly would score more…..but he needs to offer an awful lot more than that – work rate, pressing, closing down, tracking back…..he’s simply not got it. Times up.”

Stephen Templeton: “He’s the striker version of Barkas, he didn’t even have a squad number at West Ham, he also hides when the game gets tough, a poor man’s Bitton….I will reiterate again the quality of player needs to go up a notch for Champions league.”

Robert Edgar: “Guys a dud, on the sidelines and doesn’t seem to care, had plenty chances and put in maybe 2 decent performances. Pretty sure hell be on his bike this summer.”

Richard Duthie: “Ajeti is finished at Celtic he needs 2 b moved on along with Bain, Barkas, Hazard, Bolingli, Soro and possibly even McCarthy.”

Geoff Mckeand: “He’s rank rotten Wayne Biggins of the 2022.”

Not much love given for that idea and for the best will in the world, I fear Ajeti’s time is up at Celtic.

Let’s face it, is he going to displace Kyogo or Giakoumakis? And what is telling is that when neither of those two are available, Maeda is preferred up top.

That tells it’s own story.

  1. Tommy McQuillan

Ajeti couldn’t replace me in the side and I’m 57 and riddled with osteoarthritis.

  2. A poor man’s Bitton?!! Disgraceful opinion- Bitton never shied away from a game, tackle or responsibility- plastic Hoops fan comment that…
