Split image of on loan Celtic defender Julian Araujo as fans discuss if he will be bought permanenty from Bournemouth.

The reason why Celtic won’t sign Julian Araujo permanently

Julian Araujo has been a huge hit with Celtic supporters ever since his loan move from Bournemouth on the 2nd of January.

Aruajo became an instant hit after his no-nonsense tackling style came to the fore in Celtic’s win over Dundee United at the beginning of last month.

The Mexican fullback is clearly desperate to impress as the Celtic defender bids to win a place in his country’s World Cup squad this summer.

But as Araujo’s popularity grows, a discussion about new Celtic signing Benjamin Arthur on ACSOM provides a clue as to how the Parkhead club will not look to make the loan move permanent.

Alistair Johnston’s return will ‘play on Celtic’s mind’ about Araujo deal

The discussion on young Arthur being a success and comparisons to Jason Denayer brought Alistair Johnston into the conversation as Paul John Dykes spoke about the future of the player.

Paul John told A Celtic State of Mind, “How much is that on our minds with regards to the centre back that we’ve brought in?

“How much is this playing on the Celtic board’s mind in relation to bringing in a big time player because young Arthur, and it’s nothing personal against the player.

“Benjamin Arthur comes in with very little first team experience. We don’t know if it’s going to go Denayer or Jamhai Simpson-Pusey, it could go either way, right?

“We bring in a young player, a centre half from the English Premiership, who hasn’t played a lot of senior football.

“And it could go one way or the other. Listen, if it goes Denayer, absolutely delighted with that.

“But if it goes Simpson-Pusey, you’re not so happy. But how much is Alistair Johnston coming back, playing on the mind of Celtic’s decision here?”

Araujo will undoubtedly be an excellent addition to the Celtic first team but whether or not the Parkhead board would splash the cash to make it happen casts a huge question mark over a potential deal.
