The Scottish transfer rumour mill regarding Celtic and Rangers went into overdrive once again — and once again parts of the media got carried away.
Celtic fans never really believed it, and it seems their suspicions were correct as a Turkish journalist with direct access to Fenerbahçe officials poured cold water on the entire story to leave Scottish media outlets red-faced.
Daily Mail today Chermiti deal a pile of 💩 Hun

Claims that Rangers rejected a £13m transfer bid from Fenerbache for Youssef Chermiti gathered momentum across sections of the Scottish media this week, despite there being no concrete evidence that a deal was ever realistic.
According to the journalist, the player was merely suggested by an agent, never actively pursued, and was not on the club’s shortlist — leaving the headline-grabbing figure looking wildly premature at best.
Fenerbahçe outright deny £13m Rangers transfer as truth finally emerges
Turkish journalist Erdem Akbaş has told how officials from Fenerbahçe strenuously deny the rumours linking them with Chermiti.
Akbaş said on X, “Fenerbahçe club officials contacted me regarding the news. Youssef Chermiti was brought up on the recommendation of his agent, but there was no interest.
“This name is not on their lists. Fenerbahçe management is focused on high-profile names for the striker position.”
🚨Fenerbahçe kulübü yetkilileri haberle ilgili bana ulaştı. Youssef Chermiti menajer önerisiyle gündeme gelmiş ancak ilgilenilmemiş. Bu isim listelerinde yokmuş. Fenerbahçe yönetimi forvet için yüksek profilli isimlerle ilgileniyor. https://t.co/0cWaHzA3kF

There was also a subtle dig at Chermiti, with the “high-profile” comment underlining just how far down the list he really was.
As for Celtic supporters, you know the drill. Once again, a Rangers transfer story has collapsed under scrutiny — leaving the Scottish media scrambling to explain how it ever gained traction in the first place.
