Celtic’s draw at Hearts was a fiery affair with little in the way of quality football being played out.
Martin O’Neill knew that travelling to Tynecastle was going to be tough and it was not a game Celtic could afford to lose.
However, Celtic defender Auston Trusty’s red card changed the course of the game with O’Neill side 2-1 up with just 13 minutes to go.
Hearts equalised late on to secure a draw with Celtic and a point, and what the Tynecastle club did at full time was heavily criticised by the ACSOM team.
Paul John Dykes was poring over the result and performance as the award-winning Celtic podcaster took aim at Hearts’ full-time celebrations.
Hearts criticised after Celtic draw for ‘behaving like they’ve won the league’
A draw keeps Celtic six points behind Hearts at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
However, it appears the Tyncastle club’s celebrations were as such, that they think they have won the title.
Paul John told A Celtic State of Mind, “We’re still in it. I’m not even interested in the fact that Rangers beat Dundee at Ibrox and they’ve jumped to second in the league. Not bothered.
“I’m just focused on six points behind the leaders and we’re still six points behind the leaders.
“Despite everything that we’ve gone through, by the way, we have been the architects of our own demise this season.
“But as fans, we’ve had to go through it and we’re still in the hunt.
“And I’m looking at this and I’m thinking, yeah, you know what, we should not be giving away that amount of fouls.
“We should not be giving possession away. Some really poor performances in there, but we came out 2-2 and I tell you something, Hearts are behaving like they’ve just won the league there.
“There’s a long way to go, and I still think our trajectory has gone in the right direction.”
Hearts told ‘nothing’s changed’ after Celtic draw and embarrassing Steven Gerrard antics
And Hearts’ celebrations were likened to that of Steven Gerrard when he led Rangers to a win at Celtic Park way back in December 2019.
Anthony replied, “Well, I mean, the way they’re acting there, you get the feeling that it’s a wee bit like Steven Gerrard at Celtic Park on that New Year’s game where he was acting as if he’d won the league then and there.
“You’re right, it’s 2-2, we drew, nothing’s changed. We’re still 6 points off Hearts.”
“They haven’t run any further ahead of us.”
Well, every Celtic fan knows how that season turned out for Rangers and Gerrard.
So let’s hope the same happens this year as Celtic remain in the hunt to defend the Scottish Premiership title.
