‘It’s absurd’ how Celtic discovered Tomas Cvancara

Celtic’s latest signing, Tomas Cvancara, was discovered in unusual circumstances by coach Mark Fotheringham and it will leave fans stunned.

Cvancara arrived at Celtic to become Marti O’Neill’s first signing of the January transfer window.

Now that the striker position has been filled, Celtic supporters will think the recruitment department is hard at work identifying other targets for the Hoops boss.

Well, if how Celtic discovered Cvancara is anything to go by, those fans will be left seriosly disappointed.

Because ACSOM’s Paul John Dykes has shared the real story of how Celtic managed to identify and sign their second transfer capture of the January window.

Celtic coach Mark Fotheringham discovered Tomas Cvancara

Tomas Cvancara’s post-Celtic struggles are well documented so fans would think the recruitment department would know this when they did their homework on the player.

Only they didn’t, as Paul John reveals who really discovered the big Czech sriker.

Paul John told A Celtic State of Mind, “A lot of people say, that’s just your opinion. But on the back of opinion, is speaking to people involved in this and actually getting certain things confirmed.

“So, Martin O’Neill has gone into Celtic, the entire scouting and recruitment repartment has been torn up, the head of that department is away, right?

“And there’s nothing. There is nothing of quality sitting on his desk. They’ve had to start from scratch here.

“Our new signing, who we’ll be talking about, is a player who was identified, not by an agent approaching Celtic and Rangers, and I’ll come back to that as well.

“It was identified by Mark Fotheringham, Fozzie. He identified this player.”

Celtic’s recruitment department slammed and branded ‘a disgrace’

That is a damning indictment on the Celtic recruitment department who, by Michael Nicholson’s own words, work night an day to find new players.

Well, that recruitment has been given a kick by Paul John and slammed as a disgrace.

The ACSOM man continued, “And it’s absurd that a club of this size, with this fan base, is relying on somebody who is just in the door, to identify a striker.

“We did not have the work done on the 5th of January to identify a striker.

“And I guess that’s why the rumours around Kyogo and all this kind of thing happened, because it’s lazy journalism.

“But it’s also lazy recruitment. So there might be a bit of truth in both. So this will lead us on to the striker.

“If you’re a club like Celtic, you should never be behaving at that amateur level. So don’t come out and say, we can’t compete in Europe. You can.

“You just need to be far better at your job. Someone there, a number of people in an entire department aren’t doing their jobs. It’s a disgrace.”

You can watch Paul John’s full recount of the story below:

It’s mental that in this day and age Celtic still do not have a fully functioning recruitment department with so much on the line.

If the league is lost and the Scottish Cup not won, heads should roll at Celtic, starting with the CEO.
