Odds for World Cup third-placed manager ‘plummeted’ to become to permanent Celtic boss

Martin O’Neill is back at Celtic and the vast, vast majority of fans are over the moon with that.

O’Neill took over after Celtic sacked Wilfried Nancy after a run of results saw the Hoops drop to third place in the Scottish Premiership table.

Now that O’Neill is back for his second interim spell this season, the effect was immediate as Celtic battered Dundee United at Parkhead.

However, Celtic still need a permanent boss after this season and it seems that the odds for one potential candidate has plummeted just a week after five big favourites emerged for Bhoys’ top job.

Roberto Martinez emerges as shock favourite for Celtic manager’s job

Roberto Martinez m’s odds to become the next Celtic manager tumbled just days after Martin O’Neill was appointed.

Martinez’s managerial achievements include placing third in the 2018 World Cup with Belgium.

Martinez has managed the likes of Everton and won the FA Cup with Wigan.

As well as his World Cup placing, Martinez also won the 2025 Nations League with Portugal, beating Spain in the final on penalties.
