Celtic head of operations Paul Tisdale

Ex-Aston Villa CEO slams Celtic for being duped after ‘very strange’ Paul Tisdale encounter

The Paul Tisdale Celtic encounter is over after the disastrous Wilfried Nany episode ended his time at the club.

Tisdale was widely reported as the man who recommended Nancy to Celtic and this effectively ended his 18-month tenure with the Bhoys.

Dermot Desmond appointed Tisdale as Celtic’s head of football operations, but embarrassing transfer window’s exposed the former Exeter man as way out of his depth.

And now that Tisdale has left Celtic, former Aston Villa CEO Keith Wyness shares a story about the ex-Parkhead executive as he chased him from Villa Park.

Keith Wyness has ‘come across’ ex-Celtic man Tisdale at Aston Villa

Wyness was also Aberdeen’s CEO back in the day and has a firm grasp of what it takes to survive Scottish football.

And here, he shares a ‘very strange’ encounter with the former Celtic ‘football doctor’ that makes the Parkhead board look extremely foolish.

Wyness told The Inside Track, “What a huge mistake by the board to actually take this in there. It seems Paul Tisdale is the director of football who’s also lost his job.

“And I think mainly because of this decision, I think it’s all because of this decision, he was a big fan of Nancy and he convinced the board that this was the way to go.

“Tisdale, you know, look, I’d come across Tisdale when I was at Villa. I had a very strange situation about somebody trying to promote him. And it wasn’t really an agent, but it was a business mogul who I won’t name.

“He’d called me up and claimed that Tisdale was the next great football guru and that he was the great guy.

“If you remember him in his hat down at Exeter and the whole thing, bit of a football hipster.”

Wyness slams Celtic board for being sold Tisdale ‘bullsh**’

The phone call raised immediate red flags with Wyness as he slammed Celtic for falling for his clear nonsense over the last 18 months.

Wyness continued, “How Celtic got sold, that bunch of bullsh**, is amazing to me.

“It just is not Celtic. It just showed to me that the board was out of touch. They thought they were trying to be going forward, but I’m afraid it was rubbish.

“And I’m afraid Tisdale did not understand what was needed at Celtic, did not understand Scottish football”

You can listen to the full blistering criticism below:

This is a rather damning indictment for Dermot Desmond and for Celtic because Tisdale has caused everyone at the top of the club huge embarrassment.

What will Celtic do now? Will further heads roll for this shameful episode in the club’s history? Probably not.

Who should be sacked at Celtic for the Paul Tisdale embarrassment? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. There are a few but, Nicholson is a definite and , Desmond has to sell his shares and, depart

  2. Sack the lot of them. Only one who cant be voted out is Desmond, but this is embarrassing for him. Also teaches him a lesson to leave football to football people but he’s too stubborn to learn. His money has gone to his head.

  3. Ian McAllister

I can’t think of one member of the current board that passes the competency test. Being a director comes with huge fiduciary responsibility. They have patently failed on the most important aspect, that is having the ability to run a football club.

  4. This. Is one of if not the most embarrassing episode’s in the history of Celtic Football Club, it clearly demonstrates how far detached the board truly is, therefore heads should roll and a full restructure of the board should take place
