Celtic boss Wilfried Nancy speaks after Premier Sports Cup final defeat to St Mirren.

Celtic told what Wilfried Nancy is saying in the media is ‘terrifying’

Celtic’s decsion to hire Wilfried Nancy has been savaged.

The Parkhead board gave Paul Tisdale carte blanche to find Celtic’s new manager and the Head of Operations picked out Wilfried Nancy.

At first glance, the Frenchman looked a decent fit. Attacking football coupled with the desire to progress youngsters from the Celtic Academy made Nancy look perfect for Celtic.

Unfortunately, it’s not working out for Nancy and after Celtic’s defeat to St Mirren, the club have been told by Joe McHugh that what the new Parkhead boss is saying in the media should scare them.

Wilfried Nancy’s Celtic tactics are ‘horrific’

Nancy has been lambasted for some of the things he has been coming away with in the media and it seems that what he’s saying now has set alarm bells ringning for McHugh.

Joe said on the Trinity Tims, “The way it worked out is not a surprise. The ineptitude of the manager, the tactics, the position of the players etc, etc.

“That came as a shock. But overall, it is no shock that Celtic lost to St Mirren. I think they’d won one of their previous 10 matches.

“They’ve got three wins out of 15 in the SPFL. I think there’s about seven games without a win. They drew last midweek at Aberdeen.

“They beat Dundee United then they turned up at Hampden and they read Celtic. It was horrific. There is no redeeming factors.

“No players salvaged anything. It was as bad as it could get.”

Dermot Desmond told Wilfried Nancy’s Celtic comments are ‘delusional’

Nancy has said things like winning trophies is not what his football is all about and even after the match the Frenchman said his team ‘started well’ until the second minute of the game.

It’s alarming and Joe was having none of it as he continued, “But I’ll lay my cards in the table. Wilfried Nancy is not a Celtic manager. Not in a million years.

“He’s three games in with three defeats. The results are bad, performances are bad and his media comments are terrifying.

“He seems to think that there’s areas in Celtic’s play which is going well with things to build on.

“It’s a sort of delusions we’ve heard from Ibrox many times.”

The jury is almost out on Nancy after less than two weeks in the job and as crazy as it sounds, it’s hard to disagree with that.

With Dundee United up next, if Nancy doesn’t win at Tannadice, it could very well be curtains for the new Hoops boss.
