Celtic shareholder Dermot Desmond

How much Celtic has earned Dermot Desmond and the current value of his share investment

Dermot Desmond is not the flavour of the month with Celtic supporters right now.

Desmond’s conduct during Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic departure raised serious questions from the Hoops support.

Added to that, Ross Demond’s attack on Celtic fans at the AGM only further cemented the ill feeling that the Parkhead support have towards the family dynasty.

And now, to further annoy the exasperated Celtic fans, a report has shared just how much the Bhoys have paid to Desmond in dividends and how much his initial investment at the club is now worth.

Celtic have paid Dermot Desmond £7.5m as investment soars to £100m mark

Yeah, that’s correct. As Celtic continue their war on fans, a report has shared just how much Desmond’s stake in the Hoops is actually worth right now.

The report in The Times states, “Desmond has been a large shareholder in Celtic for three decades, having invested in 1994 when the club was struggling financially.

“Since then he has spent a little over £30 million to acquire nearly 35 per cent of the ordinary shares of the company and a tranche of convertible preferred shares that have given him about £7.6 million in dividends.

“It has been a fruitful investment, as his total shareholding is now worth nearly £99 million.”

Celtic fans want rid of the Desmond’s. That has been clear over the last few months.

However, as the AGM showed, the only way to get shot of them is to buy them out.

And looking at these figures, someone will need to have deep pockets to make it happen.
