Paul John Dykes schools Jamie O'Hara on Celtic

Celtic podcaster Paul John Dykes reveals Sky Sports ‘backstage’ secret that assisted humiliating Jamie O’Hara

The Jamie O’Hara Celtic humiliation by podcaster Paul John Dykes was a thing of absolute beauty.

Paul John schooled O’Hara in an episode on live TV that embarrassed Sky Sports and the former Spurs man.

O’Hara tried to belittle Celtic and Scottish football and it appears he was aided and abetted by the Sky Sports presenter who pretended to be impartial.

And Paul John reveals how his wait backstage prepared him in just 60 seconds for the Celtic ‘hit job’ both Sky Sports men tried to perform on him.

Paul John didn’t know Jamie O’Hara was a Sky Sports guest for Celtic interview

So, it appears that Sky Sports didn’t even allow Paul John the courtesy of enough time to prepare for who he was speaking to as Sky Sports didn’t tell him who was on the panel.

Paul John said on A Celtic State of Mind, “Just so everybody understands, I didn’t know he [O’Hara] was going to be on that show.

“The way that these things happen. Sometimes it’s on the day they’ll maybe send you a we message on WhatsApp saying, “Do you want to talk to us?”

“And they’ll give you an idea of what you’re talking about. So they said to me, “Do you want to talk to us about Celtics’s new managerial candidates?” And I think it’s because the word is that we’re pretty close with Nancy.

“I said, “Absolutely.” So, I spend an hour or two in the morning getting my notes together knowing that I’m preparing for the bulletin, but I’m just doing it a wee bit earlier. So, I’m not expecting this deluge of abuse about Scottish football.

“But what then happened was, I’m in the waiting room if you like. If you can imagine a digital waiting room.”

Celtic podcaster hears Jamie O’Hara and Sky Sports man ‘laughing’ at Scottish football before live interview

Paul John continued, “So, you dial in but you’re sitting backstage, right? and you’ve got a producer in your ear, but the two presenters in the the studio don’t know that you’re in the waiting room.

“So, they can’t hear the producer talking to you, but you can also hear what they’re saying live on the show. So, there’s two voices in your head at the time.

“And so, after he’s told me the lowdown, I’ve gone, ‘God, that’s Jamie O’Hara’. And I’ve seen him in action and I know what he’s all about.

“I know what he’s all about with Jason Cundy. So, I had about 60 seconds to prepare myself for the tone that was coming.

“I kind of thought to myself, this is only going to go one way here. And then what happened at that point was I went to a commercial break.

“So, I’m still sitting in the waiting room and I can still hear the the voices in the studio, and at that point the presenter is discussing the Opta table with Jamie O’Hara and they’re laughing at Scottish football.

“And I’m like, “All right, okay. Is this what we’re going to get?” Okay, that’s fine. That’s fine. Kind of confirming what I thought.

“So, you’ll notice Mark’s [Sky Presenter] any opening gambit, I say I realise there’s a comparison here between the Scottish League and the MLS.

“They wouldn’t have known how I knew that because I was sitting backstage at the time, but I knew they were going to pull up this Opta table, you know.

“And it just went from bad to worse because it’s the typical nonsense that you hear, select a random English club and say they would win the Scottish Premiership.

“In fact, they don’t even call it that. They call it the SPL, don’t they? And that’s when I say to him, so there’s a few things.

“The first thing was, um, you don’t you don’t watch Scottish football. And that’s why I asked him what the score was the last time Celtic played Rangers.

“And he didn’t know. It was a hatchet job.”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Paul John deserves all the credit in the world for keeping his cool.

As for O’Hara and that Sky Sports presenter? Well their reputation is now in tatters after this shameful episode.
