The huge eight-figure it would have cost Rangers to get Muscat and what it will cost if Danny Rohl fails to stop Celtic

Celtic now know Danny Rohl will be the man in charge of Rangers this season instead of Kevin Muscat.

The Australian was heavily tipped to join the Ibrox club but at the last minute, Muscat rejected Rangers as Celtic fans sat back and laughed.

Within 48 hours, Danny Rohl was named the Ibrox manager as Rangers fans anger boiled over to embarrassing levels.

So why the rush to get Rohl after Muscat was meant to be the man to take on Celtic this season? Phil Mac Giolla Bhain shares eleven million of them.

The £11m cost to Rangers to get Muscat to take on Celtic

According to big Phil, Rangers would have been out of pocket to the total tune of £11m had they pursued Muscat as the man to take over from Russell Martin.

In his latest blog, Phil said, “My information is that buying out the Australians’ contract at Shanghai Port would cost £6m.

“That’s not quite in the Ange range from Forest, but is still significant.

“Add to that Muscat’s signing-on fee and what it cost to sack the Enlightened One, and the total bill rises to £11m.”

Rangers ‘cast-iron’ payoff if Danny Rohl fails to catch Celtic

Rohl’s main aim is to catch up and take over Celtic’s mantle as Scotland’s dominant force. And if he fails?

Well, Rangers will be stung for another £2.5m.

Phil continued, “My information is that Herr Röhl has an iron- clad payoff equivalent to two years’ salary, regardless of how short his time is in the Big House.

“That amounts to around £2.3m.”

The Ibrox club just continues to be a source of huge entertainment to the Celtic fans and Rnagers are just going to have to Rohl with it.
