Celtic’s win over Partick Thistle in the Premier Sports Cup was a perfect warm-up for this week’s Europa League tie.
Celtic hammered Thistle 4-0 as goals from Hyunjun Yang, Liam Scales, Sebastian Tounekti and Luke McCowan put the Championship club side to three sword.
However, there was a lot of confusion over Celtic’s opener as it appeared that Yang may have missed an open goal from just three yards and the BBC commentary on it was hilarious.
Listen as the BBC almost lambast Hyunjun Yang at Celtic’s opening goal vs Partick Thistle
In the BBC commentary team was Thomas Duncan, Pat Bonner and Ian McCall and Yang’s goal absolutely bamboozled the three of them.
The commentator Thomas Duncan said, “Hatate is in a bit of space. Stanley comes across and then it’s on to Nygen on the byline chips into the back post, surely!
“Oh, what a miss. What a miss from Yang! Oh no, it’s in. That’s incredible.”
Ian McCall: “I thought it was a miss as well.”
Duncan: “It looks from all the while from here like that went into the side netting. And now the, the referee’s given the goal and it’s a delayed celebration from the Celtic fans all around us. Celtic have the lead.
“So it’s a backpost header and it’s gone in Budinakis. We all thought that was in the side netting, but it is Partick Thistle nil, Celtic one. What a bizarre start to this game.”

Thankfully, Yang buried his chancel to save his blushes and out Celtic on their way to the semi-final against Rangers in November.
