Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers

The ‘dreadfully unlucky’ Celtic youngster Brendan Rodgers has ‘really taken a shine to’

Celtic have a number of talented youngsters on their books at the moment.

From Francis Turley to Mitchel Frame, the Celtic Academy does produce young players who appear good enough to break into the Celtic first-team.

However, after years of watching talents like Ben Doak leave Celtic for England, it appears the Parkhead club has one that Brendan Rodgers really likes.

And after Celtic’s win against Falkirk, we could be seeing more of him.

Brendan Rodgers is a huge fan of Celtic youngster Dane Murray

Young Dane Murray has been plagued by horrible injuries as the Celtic youngster looked to get his senior career kick-started.

Murray has just signed a new Celtic deal and it appears that Rodgers is a big fan of the youngster according to ACSOM’s Paul John Dykes.

Dykes told A Celtic State of Mind, “I’m going to start with Dane Murray. Daen Murray’s a player I think who has been dreadfully unlucky at Celtic.

“He really has through circumstance. He was kind of thrown into that FC Midtjylland game under Ange Postecoglou’s introduction to Celtic really, because of Nir Biton getting sent off, and then he started the second leg, didn’t he.

“But horrible injuries. Brendan Rodgers has really taken a shine to this kid, and he’s spoken about him, and it looks as though he wants to nurture him.

“It’s like this season would be a season of Rodgers nurturing this player.”

Dane Murray is a player Celtic fans have been ‘crying out for’

Celtic fans love the thought of young talent progressing throught the Academy and into the first-team.

And in young Murray, Paul John believes we have a player Celtic have been ‘crying out for’.

Dykes continued, “He’s been given a new deal. He starts his first game of this season, and he scores a goal.

“I thought he looked really commanding, Brendan Rodgers said he made only one mistake all night. He’s going to do that. He’s young.

“He’s not had a great deal of senior football so far. And I think that is definitely one of the guys we keep crying out for. When are we going to get a player who graduates from the Academy, staples their name into the side and a centre-half as well.

“It’s been a while since we produced one of them.”

Let’s hope Murray stays injury free this season and gets more experience in the Celtic first-team.

Because if he does, players like Liam Scales and Auston Trusty could find themselves in a bit of a pickle at Celtic this season.
