Celtic have signed eight players in the transfer window and only one improves the first-team.
Benjamin Nygren arrived at Celtic a couple of weeks ago and already the Swede looks a class act.
Impressing in Como, Nygren also impressed against Sporting CP and Celtic’s win over Newcastle United.
But he’s not Celtic’s best performer according to ACSOM’s Paul John Dykes.
Hayato Inamura has been Celtic’s best ‘gamble’ this summer
Hayato Inamura was signed by Celtic under a cloud after fans remained sceptical about signing an unknown defender from the J League.
But after impressing in Celtic’s preseason-season preparations, Inamura has been hailed as one who has stood out this summer.
Dykes told A Celtic State of Mind, “There’s an element of risk with a lot of these players.
“Yes, Shin Yamada looks very, very good in the one half of football that I’ve seen him playing for Celtic. He does.
“Inamura, I think, has been one of the most impressive players in pre-season. But they were punts.
“I mean, let’s be honest, they’re not ready starter, oven-ready first-team players.
“They might come good. Nygren looks like a steal at £1.7m, and Tierney is absolutely a first-team ready player. So it feels to me like we are gambling.”
As Celtic fans still wait for that elusive replacement for Kyogo Furuhashi it seems one new summer recruit is backing himself for that job.
Shin Yamada backs himself to be Celtic’s new Kyogo
Yamada came to Celtic with a reputation of being a speed demon from the J League and he’s ripping himself to be Brendan Rodgers’ main man.
Yamada told the The Scottish Sun, “I heard all the news about Kyogo scoring goals for Celtic.
“As players, I would say some parts of our game is similar, maybe in front of goal especially.
“However, I have something different which is speed and power.
“With that, I hope to perform as well as him and contribute to Celtic.
“I have speed at one-v-ones, I like to run behind the defenders, that is one of my strengths.”
