’I believe’ – Celtic fans will love the seven-figure sum Rangers are told to pay Aberdeen for Connor Barron

Rangers’ financial problems are well documented and compared to Celtic’s they really are the paupers of Glasgow.

The Parkhead club is cash-rich and financially secure whereas Rangers has racked up mountains of debt getting to catch Celtic.

In fact, the finances at Ibrox are so dire that Rangers had to fire sale the likes of Todd Cantwell for stupidly low fees just to get them off the wage bill.

Now, Philippe Clement needs to resort to the free transfer market and he thought he had gotten himself a bargain in Connor Barron after he signed from Aberdeen on a pre-contract.

Unfortunately for Rangers, Aberdeen are due a development compensation fee for Barron and it seems that the Ibrox club are holding out on what they reckon is a fair price for the over-hyped midfielder.

Rangers hilarity continues for Celtic fans over Connor Barron’s Aberdeen fee

Ex-Aberdeen player and club legend Harper has had enough of the Ibrox club’s penny pinching and has told Rangers to dig deep for Barron.

Harper told the Press & Journal, “Hopefully this farcical wait will not drag into the new year – and the transfer window.

“Aberdeen would have been entitled to more than £500,000 in compensation if Barron had moved to a club outside Scotland.

“However, I believe the compensation fee Rangers should pay Aberdeen should be around £1million, as Barron has been a key player for the Ibrox club since his move.”

This fee is significantly lower than the £1.75m fee Aberdeen believe they can get from Rangers but it’s still large enough to cause cold sweats in the shambolic Ibrox boardroom.

Hopefully Aberdeen rinse Rangers for every penny that want because the cash-strapped club cannot afford any more financial mishaps in a season where Rangers have been bleeding money.
