Celtic fans have probably enjoyed one of the best transfer windows in a long time this summer.
Breaking their record transfer fee twice after buying Adam Idah and Arne Engels, Celtic showed Rangers that they mean business this season in the defence of their title.
And how refreshing was it to actually see the club spend some serious money as well?
So when Phil Mac Giolla Bhain made suggests a high profile boardroom member could leave Celtic soon, it did raise an eyebrow.
Peter Lawwell could ‘call it a day’ at Celtic
Peter Lawwell is a figure at Celtic who causes much debate amongst the fans. Many believe the non-executive Chairman still has too much influence over some matters at the club.
So when Phil suggested that he could walk away soon, it could cause a mixed reaction amongst the Celtic support.
In his latest blog, Phil said, “There was a time when people in positions of power at Celtic wanted the Ibrox club to be closer on and off the park to enhance the frisson of rivalry.
“Thankfully, the days of Lawwell Ball are long gone, as the last transfer window demonstrated. On that note, I would not be surprised if the current Chairman of the Parkhead Club is about to call it a day.”
Lawwell was appointed to the role in January 2023. He was previously the club’s CEO and retired in June 2021.
He joined Celtic as CEO in October 2003 and had overseen over 20 years of dominance in Scotland which included Rangers dying, a second nine in a row and the world famous Quadruple Treble.
With Celtic set to dominate this season again would Lawwell be of a mind to walk away after an another successful season? It’s hard to say but that’s definitely one to keep an eye on as this season pans out.

Well i hope he does go because i think he’s holding celtic back in Europe he was happy just to won the league and cup our cups in scotland and get the CL money and all celtic fans know how that plant out eh.so maybe if BR stays his contract we might get alot better players for Europe build up a great wee team and do better than we usually doing lets see what happens if its true eh..HH
