Rangers/Sevco, whatever you want to call them, the Celtic fans know that the club is, was and always will be a basket case.
We at Born Celtic continually talk about The Banter Years for two reasons. The first is that it’s always good to laugh at them. The club and their fans really are a special breed and they have provided us with superb content over the years.
Secondly, and most importantly, if it wasn’t for Celtic bloggers across Scotland and beyond, the mainstream media would have us all believe that Rangers didn’t cheat their way to titles through financial mismanagement which caused them to liquidate and die.
It never happened. The ‘same club myth‘ still exists today but as long as sites like mine, The Celtic Blog and Phil Mac Giolla Bhain exist (amongst others), to use a phrase they love to use when stealing charity money, ‘Lest We Forget’.
Rangers ‘considered’ insolvency in 2014
Phil Mac Giolla Bhain is superb at highlighting the trials and tribulations of the newco. So much so that he has their fans on strings.
And it was in conversation on social media that he wrote about in his new blog that Phil shared that *Rangers considered administration just two years after being reborn by pointing us towards this exchange on social media channel X:
And when this account tried to answer back with a smart retort, Phil put him in his place:
Quite the revelation and one, of course, that will be denied from across the water.
Now that Celtic have yet another season with access to Champions League cash, the club is likely to pull even further ahead of the basket case off the park.
And if the Celtic board back Brendan Rodgers properly, we will also leave them miles behind off it.
I bet that considered insolvency event in 2014 doesn’t sound so bad now!
