“We don’t need that money” – Stunning financial claim by Sevco fan as Sydney ruckus rumbles on

I’ve heard it all now. This one really takes the biscuit.

With the Sydney Super Cup taking front and centre stage this week as the *Rangers fans indulge in a civil war with their board, the one and only reason the Ibrox club are taking part in it is to raise money.

That’s it. They sold their standing to Scotland’s biggest club by taking part in Ange’s Homecoming Tour.

Everyone knows they need the cash. £100m in losses just don’t magically go away unless liquidation happens.

But then, that never really happened before either so who knows? Maybe it will.

But this fan called Clyde 1 Superscoreboard to vent his distaste at the ‘friendly’ and made a stunning claim about Celtic’s finances to boot.

Referring to a previous Celtic fan caller who said that the Hoops are a more global brand than Rangers, this fan said, “He said that Celtic were a more global clubs than Rangers, but who’s currently still in the quarter finals of Europa League?

And what about the coverage that we got when we beat Dortmund in the Europa League?

I think that was much more worldwide than than the last Old F*rm.

But maybe Celtic should put maybe all the focus into their form in Europe, rather than this friendly at the end of the year.

“Because if they focus more on the form in Europe then they wouldn’t need to go hunting for money on the other side of the world to play a friendly.

We don’t need that money because we’re doing well in Europe. They’re hunting for money.

I think we should focus more on sorting our disabled facilities than going to play a friendly on the other side of the world.

And all the top players won’t even be there. They’ll all be at the World Cup.

It’s not going to be the highest class Old F*rm that they’re going to get, I just can’t buy into it and I don’t agree with it.”

And he was serious. They don’t need the money. That’s that.

So why are his board so hellbent in starting a war with fans over money that they don’t even need?

Exactly.

They are in a financial mess and if they don’t win this league, you can be sure half that team will be gone before the new season kicks off in August.
