“Truth be told” – Chris Sutton reviews Postecoglou’s title prospects

Much has been made of Celtic’s title prospects this year and fan opinion on that has swung like a pendulum.

When ‘Angeball’ was in full effect, it seemed the idea of the Hoops winning Scotland’s top prize may not seem so far fetched after all, but then after an injury hit month in September, the Celtic fans hopes where brought back down to earth with a serious bump.

After a shock 1-0 loss to Livingston and a 1-1 draw with Dundee United, the lack of squad depth was has shown that the current Celtic side still has a long way to go yet to prove that they can win the league.

Chris Sutton doesn’t expect them to and in his column, he set out what his expectations are of Ange Postecoglou and Celtic’s title ambitions, “I’m not saying Celtic will win the league this year. I’m not even saying Ange Postecoglou has to win the league this year.

It would be daft to demand it, truth be told, as he walked in to a complete mess and it was always going to take time to put the club back together.

“His remit this season should be to narrow the gap on Rangers and I’m convinced that will be the case.

“Postecoglou is short on numbers but he still has the quality to compete and it’s not like Rangers have been pulling up trees.

But is a challenge good enough for the Celtic support? Can they sit back and allow *Rangers to win this title and hand them a £40m Champions League jackpot as well?
