“That’s A Good Shout” – Barry Ferguson Tips Celtic Goalkeeper Move

As Celtic seem to be set to persist with Vasilis Barkas as their number one goalie this season, Barry Ferguson said mistakes were made last season when Celtic let Craig Gordon leave for Hearts.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Ferguson name checked an ideal goalkeeper for the Hoops and reckons Celtic would do well to get the Scotland international on board, “Yeah, that’s a good shout. I watched the game last night, Hearts and Inverness Caly.

“And it still baffles me that Hearts have got a goalkeeper that still baffles me that Celtic let Craig Gordon go.

“And he looked excellent last night when I was watching him. I know he’s getting on in age but he looks as fit as he’s ever been.

“And he’s obviously went back to Hearts. That was a big surprise to me last season, and I think that’s one that Celtic will look back on and regret.

“But David Marshall is a great shout. He played with Scotland, and played ever so well for Scotland. I don’t know his contract situation at Derby. I don’t know if he’s got another year left or so.”

It is a conundrum for Celtic boss, Ange Postecoglou as he is faced with a dilemma of either sticking with the £5m signing from AEK Athens or try to find a replacement and effectively write off a huge sum of money not seen since the days of John Barnes/Kenny Dalglish and Rafael Scheidt.

It will be interesting to see if Postecoglou can prise a goalkeeper out of Barkas but early indications are it may not happen.
