Stephen McGowan: Confirmation of Brendan Rodgers delayed until key backroom situation is resolved

Celtic’s deal to bring Brendan Rodgers to the club is all but sealed. The Irishman is set to return to Parkhead for a second spell after terms were agreed this week.

Rodgers has already started to get his backroom team together with Jack Lyons and Glen Driscoll expected to return to Paradise with the 50-year-old.

But according to a report in The Daily Mail, the club are holding off from announcing the return of Rodgers until the have resolved the future of John Kennedy.

The current Assistant Manager is said to be keen to join Ange Postecoglou at Spurs, but Rodgers has told him he wants him to stay at Celtic to help him implement his plan to make the club a European force again.

Celtic have blocked Kennedy’s move to Spurs due to a contractual agreement that bans Postecoglou from poaching him and talks have already begun with Kennedy to sort out his future.

Hopefully, the matter will be resolved sooner rather than later so that Rodgers can started on preparing Celtic for next season.
