Report: Celtic to make transfer move for key position. It’s not right back

Transfer talk is going to be all the rage during this World Cup break isn’t it?

Between Ange Postecoglou telling us all that he has already identified his transfer targets to Josip Juranovic seemingly putting a spanner in the works by not agreeing a new contract, this upcoming window looks like it could be just as busy as last January’s.

We all know Postecoglou is keen to bolster his midfield. The absence of Callum McGregor has certainly shown that what we have at the club just don’t cut it for the defensive midfield position. Why else has O’Riley been shoehorned in there.

But a report by the Daily Record has claimed that it is not the midfield or defensive positions the gaffer is looking to bolster.

The report claims, “The club are also understood to be targeting another striker to lead the line despite the impressive form of Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgios Giakoumakis so far this term.

“The Japan cap has netted 11 goals so far this term, while his Greek teammate has chipped in with eight.

The Champions League strike rate this season has possibly opened Ange Postecoglou’s eyes to the fact that we just need that little step up in quality to make progress in Europe and it seems that this window is the perfect opportunity to address that.
